Biography 

Asmeret Ghebremicael grew up in West Orange and is a product of the West Orange Public School system, attending St. Cloud Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School and West Orange High School.  She has a Master’s in Public Administration from Rutgers University. 

 Her son, Markos, attends St. Cloud Elementary School. 

As a public servant and assistant to the Essex County Chief of Staff, she has been working in government for nearly ten years. She ran the Essex County 2020 census initiative. During the pandemic, she had the opportunity to serve our community and Essex County as the Manager of the Essex County COVID Call Center. 

Community & Civic Involvement

She was a Board Member on the West Orange Rent Leveling Board and served for seven years as a commissioner on the West Orange Human Relations Commission promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
