ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The West Orange Housing Rehabilitation Program (WOHRP) is sponsored by the Township of West Orange as part of the Township's Affordable Housing Program as mandated by the State of New Jersey. The program offers assistance to low and moderate-income Township homeowners. WOHRP lends eligible Township homeowners up to $25,000 at 0% interest to assist in home repairs. There are no monthly payments required on these loans. The loan is repaid (no interest) at the time of the sale of the home or transfer of title. APPLICATION PROCESS
Homeowners who wish to apply for the West Orange Housing Rehabilitation Program must submit a Rehabilitation Program Preliminary Application (PDF) as soon as possible to get on the Waiting List. Preapplications are served in the order in which they apply.
Essex County Home Improvement Program (HIP)
The Essex County Division of Housing and Community Development has applications available for the Home Improvement Program (HIP). This program provides deferred loans to low-income and moderate-income homeowners who occupy a one-family to three-family home. Home improvements eligible for funding through this program include new heating system, roofing, plumbing, electrical and code violation abatements.
