1. Who do I contact if I have questions about the schools in West Orange?

You need to contact the West Orange Board of Education at 973-669-5400 located 179 Eagle Rock Avenue West Orange Board of Education

2. If I want to rent the facilities at Eagle Rock Reservation, South Mountain Reservation, Turtle Back Zoo or Mayapple Hill who do I contact?

All of these sites and facilities are owned and run by Essex County. You should contact their Department of Parks and Recreation. Essex County. New Jersey

5. Who do I call to find out information on the St. Patrick's Day Parade?

The Parade is NOT run by the Township of West Orange but by a separate committee in charge of all the fundraising, events and coordination. West Orange St. Patrick's Day Parade

7. Who do I contact about trash and recycling pickup issues or questions?

The Department of Health and Welfare are responsible for trash and recycling pickup questions. You can reach them by calling 973-325-4120 or emailing healthdept@westorange.org

8. How do I know what my recycling day is?

Recycling is the FIRST of your garbage pick up days of the week.

9. How do I know my bulk trash pick up day?

Your bulk trash pick up day is your SECOND trash pick up day of the week. However, you should contact the health department at 973-325-4120 to let them know if you will be putting out large quantities.

10. Who do I call if I have questions about my water or my water bill?

New Jersey American Water Company is the water provider to the Township of West Orange. They can be reached at 1-800-652-6987. The Township DOES NOT provide water to residents.

11. When do I receive my property tax and sewer bills and when are these payments due?

Your property tax bill is mailed out once a year by July 1. Sometimes this is an estimated bill and a second bill will then be mailed to you by October 1. Property taxes are due February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1 of each calendar year.

Your sewer bill is mailed to you in by March 1. The payment is due April 1.

12. Do I need a permit inorder to have a garage or house sale?

Yes- you should contact the Department of Planning and Development at 973-325-4110 or email planning@westorange.org

13. Who provides gas and electric to the residents?

Public Service Electric and Gas is the utility carrier that services West Orange. You can reach them by calling 1-800-436-7734.

14. Who do I contact for information on all recreational activities?

For all of your recreation and cultural questions, please visit their webpage located under DEPARTMENTS. You may also call 973-325-4150 or email recreation@westorange.org

15. How and where do I find out the many ordinances and laws that I should know inorder to live in West Orange?

All municipal ordinances are available through our Municipal Clerk's office. Examples of the laws/ordinances on the books are the ones that pertain to parking on our municipal streets, noise and trash. You can also call the West Orange Police Desk non emergency number 973-325-4000.

16. What services/programs are available for Senior Citizens in West Orange?
